International Books?

Published

Just wondering if anyone has used international text books in any of their classes and if you had any issues with them.

I ordered one for my Micro class and it's the first time I've used an international book, but it says it is the same as the US book.

Any comments are appreciated!

I used an international edition for a microbiology class I took two years ago. The instructor used Brock Biology of Microorganisms 10/e for the text. There was NO DIFFERENCE between international and US editions other than on the back it states, "Not for Sale in the U.S.A. or Canada." The int'l ed was much cheaper (half if not more than half). Mine was a softcover but there were both hard and softcover int'l eds. I never tried to resell the book on half.com so I'm not sure if int'l eds are resellable?

Thanks so much!! Glad to hear that from someone who actually used one, not just from the person selling it! Thanks so much!! Mine is a soft cover as well. Hopefully the instructor won't have an issue with it, but as long as it has the material, I don't see why he would!

Also, I think y ou can resell them...I'm pretty sure I've seen used Interntional versions out there. Not positive though.

Hi ya'll,

I have not used an international book even though I have thought of using one. I have seen them on e-bay being sold at a cheaper rate than the usual books we have to buy. You can always try to sell your books on

e-bay.

xptp29a, actually, come to think of it (duh :trout: ), my book was sent to me by a seller within the US. I think you should be able to sell it on Ebay at least!

My Hubby buys them all the time for engineering. It really is a bum rap that we have to pay more for the same product than other countries.

Hi, I am confused because I had heard from people to never buy the international editions because they can be different. I don't know what to think?? Maybe the best thing to do is ask your professor if he/she would accept the international edition? I guess I am nervous about buying a foreign edit. Any other thoughts I'd appreciate it!
