Hello,

I'm a newer nurse with one year of experience, I do have 8 years of prior phlebotomy experience. I would like to find a course or facility that will take me on & train me to place lines. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

What type of "lines" are you wanting to place?

There is PICC certification, and there are IV courses. The IV courses are aimed at LVNs, but it couldn't hurt to take one. The criteria for a vein, as well as the equipment, are very different from straight draws.

Honestly, apply to jobs, and make sure you emphasize your phleb experience. State that you're eager to learn, that you love infusion nursing, that it's what you want to do with your career. You never know who might take a chance on you. :)

Hi guys, I'm a late poster but thank for for starting this post Kaysmm8. I am also a phlebotomist of about 3 years at an outpatient lab and love it. Currently a nursing student looking to becoming an infusion nurse as well! Hope you've made progress on your journey to becoming an infusion nurse since starting this thread. And thanks for the info, RunBabyRN. :)
