I am a RN student
Are you suppose to aspirate before flushing a mediport that is being used for prn meds.
I thought you needed to aspirate all cvc's before flushing but my instructer said I didn't need to aspirtate before flushing a mediport.

I always asirate before pushing anything, just to make sure the needle is still in place. Don't see the harm in it.

I see the harm if you don't aspirate! I've seen infiltrations with ports, so yes, aspirate first.
