Have you looked at on-line programs? No better way for an informatics nurse to get his/her education than via distance education. See my replies to other posts from today and previously.
Good Luck!
I currently have a BSN and a bachelors degree in information systems from DeVry. I would like to enter the informatics field. I don't expect to find a full-time position devoted to informatics however I am currently attempting to search for a positon as a nurse educator in order to enter the field. I am interested in Computer Based Training. My question is -- Does anyone know of any healthcare informatics courses or certifications available in the DFW area. The only one I found appears to be focused on library systems - not exactly what I am looking for. I feel as if my education is being wasted in patient care.

I'm not sure how well an online degree holds up if employers know it is not a traditional brick and mortar university. I really would like the interaction of a class and students. I beleive the networking is important. i tend to lean more toward a traditional program.
I totally respect your decision and congratulate you on knowing yourself. You did originally write that you felt limited in clinical practice........... On-line accredited programs from reputable and established institutions are respected by the informatics community as well as employeers.
Best of Luck in locating a traditional program in your area.

Plan to attend the Summer Institute in Nursing Informatics in Baltimore next summer. It's a great week of networking and learning. You might also find the Weekend Immersion in Nursing Informatics valuable. The latest schedule is at http://www.winiconference.net or http://www.icce.us.
Good luck,
