I'm having s hard time trying to retain my information after I have study it. I'm currently completing my prerequisite for Lpn. Anything that could help me?

I don't study for long periods of time. Instead short little burst, like 15-30 minutes. I feel I retain the information better that way. Also figure out what kind of learner you are.

Agreed.

I found that I learned more when I would jump around. I would study A&P for 30-45 minutes then jump to psychology for 30-45 minutes then jump to another. That way you're studying all your subjects and you're getting enough time in for each of them.

I also found that handwriting things helped me remember more than just reading or typing.

You can get a recorder and record lectures or something you're reading/studying and listen to that while you drive somewhere.

Everyone learns and retains things differently; you may just need to try some new things.

In order for any new information to 'stick' in your memory, you will need to take some time to process it.... just reading through it is not enough. Some people can just pause after reading a couple of pages & think about what they just read, making sure it all makes sense & re-reading anything that is still not clear. Other people make a handwritten outline of everything as they read it - this is another way to make yourself think about the new information.

Another great trick is just to read out loud... this will engage both your visual & auditory senses. Reading out loud also forces you to slow down & really process all the words rather than skimming over them. Of course, people may think you're nuts but that's the chance you take - LOL. A really good option is to read aloud and then explain the information to your kiddo or even your dog! Sounds nuts, but it does work.
