I haven't done any travel nursing (yet), but there is a web page you can get to from https://allnurses.com/ Just scroll down to specialties then click on travel nursing and there are a few pages. The first one has some info on the Carolinas.

Eve,
I am a former Duke Life Flight nurse who worked at Duke for more than a decade. I am currently on a PICU travel assignment in Hawaii. Email me at [email protected] for specifics. Have you seen the website www.visitnc.com for area recreation?

I might be going to Duke ER 1st of January. Is there anything I should know? They seem pretty desperate. I'm kind of scared. Also, do they let their travelers take care of traumas? So far I have had no luck with being able to take care of trauma as a traveling nurse. They leave it all for staff.

Hi! I only know from friends who've worked there (permanent staff)-Duke is huge, Durham Regional is a Duke hospital now-smaller-nice place to work. I don't know anything about Rex. What I do know is there are some very bad areas of town in Durham-be careful where they house you!!

There are bad parts to ANY city. Durham is not a bad place. Look towards housing near 54, Southpoint Mall area (just got an apartment there moving in Jan.), Chapel Hill, RTP, etc.
