Info Lit VENT!

I decided to ask my advisor yesterday if they would accept a computer lit class I took while in RT school in place of info lit. He told me they don't usually accept other classes for it, but would be willing to send it for review. I sent in the course description which was pretty general and they asked for the syllabus and it needed to state it covers ethical and legal aspects. Of course I took this class in 2002 and the syllabus is long gone, so I called the school and the librarian was nice enough to fax over the oldest syllabus they had, which was 2005. I looked it over and I knew I had covered everything that was on the syllabus, plus it covered the ethical and legal issues, so I sent it in. Well that's not good enough for them and now I need to have the course instructor send a letter on professional letterhead stating that it's the exact same content, plus include a course outline, etc... I knew this was a long shot, but I feel like they are making this SO hard. I understand they will not accept just any course, but come one!!!! OK, vent over. Just needed to get that out to people who understand. I'm off to investigate the Penn Foster course because there is NO way I'm paying $315 for the Excelsior course!

At least you know they accept the Penn Foster course.

I took it through Penn Foster. I think it took me about 2-3 hours. I did it after a night out and while watching a Detroit Lions game (frustrating). I ended up with a 90 which transferred in as a B.

Can't complain though, it was easy, boring and mindless...and significantly cheaper!

Yay! I got the syllabus from the instructor, it includes a full course description and outline. I am keeping my fingers crossed it goes through, I put in way too much work for it not to, lol (probably more work then actually taking the class, HA!)

Good luck! I had an old CO 101 class and I never thought to do that. However, it didn't include all of the library crap that was in the Penn Foster course.
