can anybody give me any info on Charles A. Jones LVN Program AND Twin Rivers LVN program in sacramento? I plan on looking into both when i come back from the Air For Reserve next year. Twin Rivers I heard is cheaper and has a higher pass rate than Charles A. Jones but its two years long and i dont know if i want to take a 2 year long LVN program. Id really like the following info on BOTH schools:

1. How hard was it to pass the actual program as well as the NCLEX after attending either school?

2. How hard was it for you to find a job after graduating and did going to either one of these schools limit your chances at getting an LVN job?

3. Does Twin Rivers have a LVN program that is full time as well as part time?

4. Were you able to work part time while attending Charles A. Jones or did you have to stop working?

5. Did you have to pay (for either school) all the money up front or were you able to do a payment plan?

please please please give me as much info about either schools as you can! id greatly appreciate anything!

There is a night time LVN program in Yuba through Sutter One Stop. This is one hour from South Sacramento.

The program a CAJ is full time, days. I have a friend who is almost finished there.

I am eager to read the replies you get on this topic, as well!

Thank you so much for your response vintagemother, ill have to research that yuba city lvn program. And yes im really hoping to get some good responses soon! :D

CAJ is tough, and doesn't teach well... but it gets you in and out fast. its kind of all a blurr!!! went there in 2008-09, i had the worst experience ever, it is basically self taught. only plus is that the program is over in 8 months, if you can survive. I don't think its possible to work while you are at CAJ, but some of my classmates had weekend jobs. When i went in 08 tuition was only 15000, so i paid 5000 after every semester or section (i dont know what they call it). Yes I passed nclex-pn, the first time, but that just depends on how hard you study. No I don't a have job (haven't really tired to get one though), most of my classmates just went back to their old job places and got a promoted to lvn position, so im assuming it was easy for them to get a job.

hope this helps

i went to twin rivers

how hard was it to pass the actual program as well as the nclex after attending either school?

nclex was easy compared to the ati comprehensive exit exam that you are required to pass in order to graduate. i passed the nclex first time at 85 questions.

2. how hard was it for you to find a job after graduating and did going to either one of these schools limit your chances at getting an lvn job?

twin rivers has a good reputation on putting out a "good product". i got a job on my first interview. all of my fellow graduates also received jobs.

3. does twin rivers have a lvn program that is full time as well as part time?

no at this time it is only part time, however i have heard that it is being restructured to be more like charles a. jones which i think is a bad idea.

4. were you able to work part time while attending charles a. jones or did you have to stop working?

at twin rivers most of us worked during the course of the program. i myself went to sierra college and finished my prereqs for the rn program.

5. did you have to pay (for either school) all the money up front or were you able to do a payment plan?

payment plan that had to be completely paid off before graduation. although now i believe they have finacial aid to help off set the cost
