Many job postings indicate "CNA certification preferred" so obtaining certification is an asset. Where I work, CNA certification is looked at favorably, especially if we want to advance.
I am certified in gerontological nursing (GNCC). Some of my friends have obtained certification in mental health, medical surgical and occupational health nursing. The preparation was intense, but I learned a lot and the actual exam was reasonable.
I studied off and on for five months because I was also working full time. I had more than ample time to review for the competencies, but I made a study schedule ahead of time.
