  1. Run, Don't stay there...You don't wanna japordise your/your pts' safety ie your license...Don't work in a toxic work environment...I'm a new nurse, been in the workforce thou more than two decades...leaving after 6 months don't make you a job hopper...Staying at least 1 year in a position before leaving for another site is overrated...Your success, hon, at nailing job interviews after this lies on you being honest about why you left the position exuding confidence and showing future employer you are/were aware of your strenthgth/weakness as a human and a nurse.
  2. the whole post is screaming buuuullllyyyy.
  3. THANK. YOU....You got my point!!
  4. By you, I didn't mean you elkpark... WOW, so much microaggretion here!!
  5. And, you are a nurse...So, yeah, it's like a scenario on street across the hospital...The difference thou is you as a nurse would code the person, AND, could start CPR if comfortable not to waste the precious time???
  6. Did you ask your preceptor?
  7. Today, I talked to one of them in the interview panel (2 persons interviewed, and one person was taking note)...She said my interview was good, but after so and so talked to your supervisor, he was not impressed...l talked to her about the stuff that I pointed out here, she told me apply again, they would consider my application, and stay away from that reference. This appointment was such a relief. Thank you guys for your time and giving helpful feedback.
  8. I mentioned it somewhere here...I called them...They directly told me bc of my reference...Besides, I know how I did on my interview...
  9. Not that all employers would give written recommendation...Mine was done over the phone...When I was in school, our instructors emphasized when we ask for a reference, we should also ask them if they would be able to give us a good recommendation. This is very common here...
  10. You know why people, in situations like this, use this forum to post their questions/concerns due to which feel frustratrd/helpless: They want to VENT and get information whilst remain anonymous...The fact that you wonder how much "MORE" there is to the story is not important AT ALL...I surf this forum once in a while to learn about what I need to know more in depth...I mean I don't see it as a credible source of info at all...BUT, it is great in a way that it points out what I need to know, and I do furthet research by utilizing credible resources/asking appropriate professionals...This forum is more of a great outlet to brainstorm, and ALSO to hear other nurses' career/life story while emphatizing/appreciating them...So, there is no need to question posters while critisizing/blaming them...That is unnecessary and hurtful.
  11. Oh, no...Sure, as heck she wouldn't be In my reference list... And, again lets discuss your given example: when you were not punctual, or you called in sick once in a month, etc, and these things were your weakness which you supervisor didn't like...they should have expressed their concerns even by being leukwarm when asked her about giving a good recommendation...Somehow, in her tone of voice, etc which you would sense it really easily, and decide to cross her name out...I actually chose her as a reference really wisely...She was so easy, welcoming, positive...THAT'S EXACTLY WHY I LEFT CONFUSED AND HELPLESS...
  12. I do NOT agree...References are supposed to be nonjudgmental, professional, hence objective...Think it as evaluations, which are required to be objective...As a matter of fact, in cases like this you could present your prospective employer with the copies of your evaluations you were given working in previous job. So, I think references are required to be objective...Although as I previously mentioned they could hardly remain objective...No wonder why 64% of references turns to be leukwarm AND negative when they are asked about potential candidates according to an author..Sorry for not citing this....Found this in a piece of researched article last night...Somehow couldn't find it today.
  13. You bet...it's complicated perse...But, I just wanna sit and talk to them....This situation is sooo frustrating...
  14. And, sure opinions are subjective...I meant although references are supposed to be objective...But, realistically they could hardly remain objective...The line between the two could get blurry...
  15. I might have...It all depends on what my supervisor had told the prospective employer about me...
