I wonder if there is really such a thing as shortage of nurses. I tried to look for a job that offers a training program. I did find a few but they are so reluctant to hire me since I don't have experience. I am trying to find employment and training for sometime now. Employers are willing to take in experienced nurses of minimum 1 year experience. How can I fit in?:o Any suggestions to where I can find one

Are you a graduate of a US program or overseas? Which part of the state do you wish to work in?

IForeign grad and hoping to work in San Francisco, California. It has been 3 years since I graduated. I don't have any nursing job experience.

Hi there,

Did you take the NCLEX exam for California? You need to pass that exam first before you can start working in the US. There are several new grad programs around, UC San Francisco has one in SF. You can look on the different hospital websites for more. Those positions are for new grad RNs (they expect you to pass the NCLEX exam before you start) and they provide the training for the unit (usually 6 to 12 weeks). Good luck.

Have you completed the NCLEX-RN, and have a Visa Screen Certificate in hand? It will be much easier for you to find something that way.
