Indiana State University LPN-BSN

Nursing Students Indiana (ISU)

Published

I am considering doing the LPN-BSN distance learning through Indiana State University and I was wondering if there is anyone here that has or is doing the program that could give me some insight and whether you like it or not on this college. Would this be a good choice to choose this college? I just got my LPN license about a month ago and I want to get my RN but I don't want to rearrange my work schedule again to go back to a traditional college. So any info would be great.

Thanks

There is an ISU website with much written. I am in the first semester after taking their challenge exams. I like the flexibility, but be aware the classes are far more rigorous than a regular nursing program. There will be much studying, tests, papers, care plans, tests, papers, discussion board posts, test, and did I mention papers. I have been personally told that those who took the first two required courses (transition from LPN to BSN (which is a transisiton and pharm class) and the assessment class) have either dropped one of the classes or both the first semester. Most who sign up have no idea that this is acctually a university, nursing program, and offered through distant learning. What I have seen is many who take distant learning because they have other responsibilities (work, kids) and think they can fit the DL program into their schedule. Actually, it is the other way around. DL is demanding (just like any nursing program), it is the other responsibilities that must take a back seat. The first semester is where reality begins.

How is this online program that your are completing at Indiana State?

The program is good but very intense. If you work full time or have children, it can be challenging. I wish I could only do one class a semester because the work load is heavy
