Hi everyone, I just wanted to give an update on my status. I was accepted to the prelicensure program in Indiana. The program starts in June and I am very excited! It has been a long process to get here and I am thrilled to know my dream of being a nurse is becoming a reality. If anyone has any questions about the process, I will try to help out as much as I can.
When you apply for the program it is usually associated with a hospital. For example, YNJT was accepted in the VA Cohort where majority of the clinicals will take place. There are also others in the Indy area such as Eskenazi. The clinicals do not start until you are accepted into the clinical portion of the program. What I mean by that is when you first apply, you are trying to get a spot into the PRENURSING portion, once you are in the PRENURSING portion the first semester you are trying to get accepted into the clinical program or the actual prelicensure BSN program. During the first 6 months, there is a bootcamp you need to pass (testing you on your basic nursing skills) and an interview that are all required to be admitted into the clinical portion.
Clinical shifts vary, it depends on the nurse (preceptor) that you are matched with. You basically go by their schedule so it can vary.
You do not pick your clinical site per se, but you can apply for the cohort (hospital) you would like to be associated with.

Hi everyone, I applied for the June 1st cohort in Indianapolis (VA Hospital). I have not heard back of my status, but I was wondering who else applied!
