Pre-Nursing

So, I have decided to withdraw from my classes at Ivy Tech completely and start fresh next semester in Spring of 2016. I honestly thought I was mentally prepared for going back to school after 4 years but it wasn't the mental part it was the physical. Staying up late at night studying, waking up extra early then moving and being stressed out with finding an apartment, losing my job, I fell so far behind. Especially in A&P I. I feel so stupid. I'm going for my ASN and that's 6 semesters. This is setting me back but I really am only starting over because I want to be as focused as possible. I'm mentally ready 100%, it's the physical aspect of it all. Has anyone else gone through this? I'm going to take this time to do a cna program and become a cna so I can gain some experience. Plus I hear they work with you while you're in school. I can even do like 12 hr shifts on the weekends once school starts. I really want everything to work for me. I have 5 classes now. Will withdrawing from them ruin my chances of getting accepted into Ivy Tech's nursing program? Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. I don't want anyone to pity me at all. I just need some guidance please. I'm really stressed and bummed out. My life dream is to a Pediatric Nurse. I have an almost 6 year old son. I want to give him the best life. This anxiety is hurting me. I'm overwhelmed and scared and freaking out.

I can definitely admire that you are working so hard towards your goal, but I have a question for you: what have you changed to make sure you are prepared physically (and mentally, really) for nursing school? I promise you, it's not a walk in the park. It will be a very rigorous 2 years. Try to identify what might be the problem.

I really believe I got so wrapped up in the whole moving process that that became my first priority. I was staying with a family member and that didn't work out so I had to leave and that entire situation over my life the past two or three weeks. I'm not saying situations won't come up again but I don't think it would be that in tense of a predicament that it would knock me off my square. I'm planning ahead. I'm going to try my best to stay ahead.

First thing first. Do you have a support system? That's really huge (in my opinion). As far as dropping classes it might affect your financial aid more than you getting into the program. I would just call. Before I transferred schools I went to Ivy Tech and they are very helpful. Contact the obudsman if u really need guidance.

Getting your CNA is a great start. Get some experience and then apply to some hospitals. I currently work at a Pediatric Hospital and the techs that become nursed usually get jobs.

Try not to stress and take a deep breath. Stay positive and everything will work itself out. GOOD LUCK!!
