I have a question about the books actually used during the Ivy Tech RN curriculum. I understand that the textbooks all have valuable information. However, I'm at the Lawrence campus and have been contemplating if buying them all is important for the classes themselves; are there any textbooks that are rarely/never used or would it be smart to purchase the entire bundle?!

Hello

Hope an Ivy Tech RN student can answer your question about textbook bundle.

Best wishes for your nursing journey.

I'm an IVT nursing student and we use all of our books, some people use them more than others. I would buy what they tell you and then use them to understand the concepts. You will pass tests just following the powerpoints and such, but having a firm grasp on it is made easier by reading. The smaller books, liek the drug guide, and NANDA book, will go with you EVERYWHERE. Class, clinicals.. they will form an integral part of your education.

I wanted to make a quick update. I am at the Lawrence Campus and I have only used one of the Med-Surg books a couple of times. However, the online access code for each book is needed - to go online and take some 5% quizzes. In short, you only need your Fundamentals, Med-Surg, and OB/PEDS books. I just used the PowerPoints for pharmacology and got an A. I have ATI books and other miscellaneous books to study from for the NCLEX.

Don't buy the bundle. The main course books are important but the drug guide and other books are a waste when you can find everything you need online.
