I got an offer to work for an indian health services facilitiy in Northern NM, anyone ever had experience working as a traveler in this type of facility? Thanks

I actually worked in Tuba City, AZ for a per diem agency years ago, but under a contract. My housing was provided right on site of the hospital in apts that they owned. It is going depend more on the agency that you are working for, than the facility. All that I transported out of and to were quite nice in New Mexico.

(I also worked as a flight nurse when I was up there.)

Specializes in Medical/Surgical/Maternal and Child.

I worked at Gallup Indian Medical Center 9 years ago as a traveler in their outpatient ob/gyn clinic. I loved it and tried to hire on permanently at the Medical Center.

I have some friends in Shiprock right now for Nationwide Nurses. They really like it there. I do know you have to travel from Farmington into Shiprock because there is not any housing nearby. Farmington is about 30 miles away. I guess it depends on what type of vehicle you have and how fast you drive, how long it takes to get there. Me, it would take about 30 minutes. There are a couple of other IHS facilities out there nearby, also. I guess it depends on what type of work they want you to do, how well you would like it. I know I enjoyed my time out there.
