hi nancy,

nancy from wi here. i am not personally an independent provider, but i know people that are, and they do it here in wisconsin. so you can count wi as one of the states.

hope this helps.

My name is Katina Hafi and I'm a RN in Nebraska. I take care of a quad on a vent as an indep contractor with the state health & human services. I don't know if this is the exact "same as IP, but thought I'd let you know that there is a way to work with our state - they're really good to us IC nurses!!!

You can contact Jessica Dean (who I went through) at 402-471-9156. Hope that helps!

What are your thoughts on the cutbacks for the IPs in Ohio? I have a friend who has legal charges against her (she is an IP). She did not think malpratice insurance was worth it? Now she does.

Just to be nosey, what "cutbacks" on IP's are you talking about. I was an IP for Waiver for about 6 years.

Ohio Home Care Waivers are looking to cut the LPN reimbursement rate for IP's by 30% to fall into line with other payers. They are also looking at a case management type model where the clients will be classified as LPN or RN level of care. In this model, no matter who covers an LPN level of care patient, there will be a 30% reduction in payment. They are just begining to look at this type of model, but there will be some kind of payment cut. Ohio Home Care is mandated to reduce budget by 16 million for next two year cycle. They do not want to cut services or slots, so they have choosen reinbursement. If you have any questions to to ODJFS website for an online review of all Ohio Home Care rule changes.

Hi

Just wanted to let you know that an RN I used to work with told me quite awhile back that the case we had been working on together went IP from the insurance company because the home hlth agency was not providing nurses. This is in California.
