Independent Nursing

I have been working as an Independent Registered Nurse now for over four years and would like to know if any nurses in Australia are working the same way. Totally self employed - hire yourself out but not through an agency.

Do your own everything! Tax, GST, invoicing and accounts, advertising, promotional leaflets, business cards, look for work, interviewing (prospective employers), program your week/month/year and of course turn up for work when the jobs come rolling in!

Probably a bit to 'casual' for some!

I knew of a couple of independant midwives and a freind actually managed to get a medicare provider number as an independant midwife. Sadly I do not know of anyone else following this route.
