I let my c/s moms get up as soon as they feel ready or at the latest, around 12-18 hours out. It depends as well how well they've been moving in the bed. Not moving well? Then sooner for you. Good pain relief is absolutely essential so they will want to move.

My last night at work, I had a mom whose c/s was around 0100; by 0600 she was up and got in the wheelchair (her choice) to go to NICU to see her baby, and did beautifully.
