Has any one incorporated to help with liability problems? any downside to it? did you incorporate via the net? as a C or S incorporation (I think those were the letters I saw) thanks for the info in advance. deb

I would only incorporate with the help of an experienced lawyer with experience setting up corporations for NP's. What's tjhe point in going to the trouble if you don't get it right. S corp seems to be the most common but I'm not sure why (PC or other types of LLC may be an option also).

I am incorporated as an LLC for another business. My experience in medicine comes from working with rural health clinics and the BOM on incorporation. Even with several lawyers in the room it can be very confusing. This is a very important part of any business and very hard to fix if you do it wrong. There are some things that can be done over the internet, I would think that the state to state variation of incorporation would make this a very bad idea. If you look at any publication on starting a health care business the two most important things are a good business lawyer and a good accountant. A little money up front can save you a lot of money later.

I, too, am incorporated as LLC in my medical-legal business.

Definitely need an astute and loyal attorney and accountant.
