Inactive RN seeking non-hospital LTC jobs?any advice?

Nurses Career Support

Published

Hi,

I graduated in 1999 with a BSN RN and worked in a peds Long term care for 9 months. I didn't like it and since then have been working in non-clincal side..such as low end jobs in the insurance industry. Recently I certified myself as coder..I haven't been able to find a job but I am leaning towards it even though the pay is much lower than nurses. I am also doing RN refresher course self study currently but having doubts that I once I have my licenense activated what do I do with it? I don't want to work in the hospital as a nurse..neither in any Long term cares. I am wondering if I should even continue the refresher?

What jobs can I get a new nurse which are non-hospital or non-LTC?

or should continue in the low level jobs for my happiness?

have you considered doing emr support or training? check with local hospitals in your area to see if they are going with a new electronic medical records implementation. consulting firms are begging for experienced nurses (rn or lpn/lvn). the pay is phenominal and all travel expenses are paid for by the client. pm me if you have any additional questions.

good luck...:smokin:
