In-Person Interview at Mercy Hospital, AR

Published

Hello,

I'm a new graduate nurse from San Francisco Bay Area. I had my phone interview today with the nursing recruiter, and she invited me to come in for an in-person interview with the nursing direction and manager. I looked it up, and flights for this week and next week is really expensive. I failed to ask whether travel expenses will be reimbursed. My question is.. should I email and ask? Do you think it's worth the investment for this interview? I'm torn between yes and no.. any opinion is much appreciated!

Thank you so much!

Which Mercy Hospital? Meaning which city? I'm not sure where you're trying to go but XNA airport is notorious for cheaper flights! That's in the Fayetteville area. Also I've previously worked for mercy I'm not sure they would reimburse. You may want to consider suggesting a Skype interview

business trips, for interviews, can be a tax write off. as for mercy paying for the flight, i would like to know the answer to that too.

It's the Mercy hospital from Fort Smith.

They declined my request for a web interview. They do not reimburse for travel costs. So after two days of contemplation, I declined their in-person interview offer. The cost was too much and it wasn't a place that I was thrilled to move to either.

Oh wells.. =/

I'm from that area and worked at that hospital actually. It definitely would not be worth a ton of money in expenses unless you were very desperate. Not that it's a bad place but like you said it's not a really exciting area and the hospital is small and you might not get the experience you were hoping for. They have a lot of nursing schools in the area that's why they probably didn't reimburse. When I interviewed there they said they only had limited spots bc of how well they were staffed but I did get offered a position that day (I declined) so that being said if later you are still unemployed it may still be a good option.
