Hi everyone! I'm wondering if anyone knows if there are any New Graduate residency/internship jobs in Indiana? I have already researched a little, and so far it looks like even major healthcare systems/hospitals such as IU Health do not offer any new-grad programs... only Staff-RN positions (I received this info via email from an IU Health recruiter). I am trying to move from Hawaii to IN, but would prefer to start working in a New-Grad position for the safety of "training wheel" guidance etc., instead of jumping to work on the floor as a staff nurse right away. In Hawaii, most of our major hospitals offer new-grad programs or "academies" (internships) about every 6 months. Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Mahalo! -Michelle

Where in IN are you looking to move to? Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka now puts all new grads through its nurse residency program, I believe. There is also St. Mary's in Evansville. Those are the only 2 I actually know about. I'm sure that there are more.
I was looking at Indianapolis, but thank you for those suggestions! I'm a little unsure which "St. Mary's" you're referring to? When I googled it I could only find a tiny pedatric clinic, a family center, and doctor's offices. Thanks!

I have never seen A residency program for new grads in Indy. At my hospital there are postings that say "Will consider new grads" new nurses are trained with a preceptor for 3 months on general med floors... 4 -6 months for critical care.
Ok thank you! This does sound like a good deal with at least some training, that's a relief to hear! I will research it more. :)
If the job posting doesn't say 1-2 years experience (or anything similar to that) it's up for grabs in my book. It should tell you if they want experience or not.

I doubt you'll find any formal residencies in Indy any longer. But St. Vincent hires new grads and provides fairly extended orientations for them.Just not a formal residency program called such.
BTW- St. Mary's in Evansville is a St. Vincent/ Ascension Health facility.
Also- are you a true new grad?
