In need of Job related to nursing while doing Prerequisites

Published

I'm in absolute help with finding a job related to nursing that will give me a boost in my nursing career.

Every job i apply to requires 1yr experience. I found an intern job that doesn't pay that can give me 1yr experience, but does anyone know one that does pay?

Thanks!

Specializes in Licensed Practical Nurse.

I'm kinda guessin you could be a cna or pca, sure is only nurses aide, but experience in a healthcare environment of some kind should get you in the door, good luck!

Cna, ekg tech, phlebotomy tech

I highly suggest becoming an NA! My experience working with patients has been invaluable with nursing school and clinicals. You have no idea how good it feels to be able to go into check-offs already knowing how to do some things (vitals, accu checks, etc). It will also give you a wonderful view of how nurses and NA's work either together or against one another. Having worked as an NA and seeing how nurses treat me and others will totally help me when I am a nursing dealing with others and deligation.

How do I find out about these job openings? I live in Arlington, TX. Do these NA positions require any past experience?

Thank you for all your help!

Some do...some don't. I actually started off as a volunteer at the hospital in the PACU, and they liked my work so much that they hired me. Although I know some other nursing students who got hired on w/out any experience. Look on the hospitals web site under employement. They are called different things depending where you go (CNA, NA, NA II, STNA, PCA). As far as I know they are all pretty much the same, some just have state testing whereas others only have in-house hospital testing. Hope this helps!!! Good luck!!! :)
