Hi Everyone,
I am currently a RN-BSN working in a Holistic Family Practice Clinic. I am ready to move on from the company I work for and am want to still be able to use my degree, but have not interest in any other form of nursing. I am looking for other ideas of what I can use my degree for and still do holistic nursing in some form. I do not have any special certifications and would be interested to hear what other people have found to be good sources for this. I living in Wilmington, NC and there aren't too many schools near me that have specialized training. I would love to find something that I can do on my own and have my own business possibly one day. Any suggestions or ideas would be great.
Thank you! :)

Ditto to everything! I'm in an RN-BSN program and would love to enter a holistic NP program. The problem is, I have not found one that I am interested in.
Any advice would be wonderful!

Hello!
I too am in the same exact boat and am currently about to finish my BSN at NYU. I came here originally because it was the only school that offered a promising looking Holistic NP program. While I think it's a great choice, I decided to do an FNP program instead (later on..) and they dont currently have one but will be starting one in about a year. I believe at that time you will be able to combine holistic with either family or adult...
I just dont really want to live in NY for this long and decided to look at programs out west. Look into it!
BTW Sarah27, what kinds of tasks did you do in the holistic family practice? Just curious because I'm trying to look at similar work environments...Thanks!!

When I was on vacation in California and Arizona, I noticed that holistic medicine and holistic therapies seem to enjoy greater acceptance than on the East Coast and that there are many more opportunities for employment in holistic practices. There are also many more opportunities for holistic education in many forms. That said, Holistic Nursing is not necessarily practiced in Holistic Medicine or Holistic Therapy practices. Holistic Nursing is a specialty that is practiced wherever one happens to be. It is very "holistic" in that way.
That said, if you are interested in working in holistic medicine/holistic therapies, whether or not you are a Holistic Nurse, I suggest you look out West. Maybe even a google search for holistic therapies in Arizona, California, New Mexico, etc. There are certainly many opportunities to have our own business if you offer something that people are willing to pay for...
