i have never worked in AZ but i only work day shifts and have never had trouble finding a contract. if your company is telling you it's not possible, search for a company that is AZ based or specializes in the southwest region, and tell your recruiter that's your intention. you need to be direct about what you want and let them know that if they can't provide it, respectfully let them know you will give another company the opportunity to meet your needs. the job you want is out there-don't settle for something less.

Hi Laurel- ok thanks..that makes me feel better.

I am so confused because some agencies (in fact one that is phoenix based) told me there are NO travel assignments at all in phoenix in L &D and all the other ones say they only have nights. So i dont know....

by the laurel- what agency do u go through?

Specializes in OB.

In general there are more contracts for nights than days, but the day contracts are out there - I've turned down contracts because they were for days only - even had my company on a couple of occasions see if they had anyone who wanted days so I could do nights when it was someplace I really wanted to go!

man it sounds like you are really having trouble with this days thing...from what i hear AZ needs more travelers when it's cold in other states, the whole retiree's go there, like florida thing...maybe try contacting a few bigger hospitals that utilize travelers and ask the HR dept when their census is highest, the worst case scenario is they ask you why u want the info, which is public record.

i work for aureus medical, based in omaha, but i've traveled coast to coast with them with satisfaction.

this is all confusing for me too tho, it's seems like it's a delicate balance of "i want this and i know you can get it for me, so i'll push the envelope a lil till i do, but not too far" geesh!

Unfortunately her specialty (and mine) L&D really isn't seasonal. Snowbirds don't add much to the OB population. The only "seasonal" thing I've found about it is Florida 9 months after the major hurricaine season a few years back and some northern areas 9 months after major blizzards with power outages!
