I recentky may have been ticketed for a reckless driving and lving scene of accident, probably not a DUI but i have not seen any tickets in the mail yet. It has been two weeks. I have been accepted into CRNA school and start in the fall. They will have to do a background check. Will I be banned from starting school? I am losing sleep over this and extremely worried. One stupid night out no prior tickets/convictions. PLEASE help

Depending on the state - reckless drivng might be just a ticket, but leaving the scene (especially if there were injuries involved) might actually involve criminal charges. The first is not a big deal, the latter certainly could be. However - at this moment, you have not been cited or charged with anything, so if YOU don't know about any pending action, i don't know that i'd be volunteering any info. You can honestly say you have no criminal record.
I live in MN. Reckless i believe is just a ticket. lving the scene..i was the only person there (i went into the ditch) and i hada few cuts (so tech i was injuried). Does criminal mean "felony". The sheriff said probably only misdormeanors but it will be up to the county prosecutor. I am extremely worried. Kinda depressed about it. I wish i knew what is going to happen. Does anyone know when they have to issue a ticket? I am very worried I will not get into school now. Is it just a felony that a background check is looing for?
Ah, that's a little more complete story, and not near as worrisome. Any time you have a wreck like that (hit a ditch, hit a mailbox, whatever) the assumption is that you have lost control of your vehicle. In some states, it's called "failure to maintain control". In MN, apparently that's reckless driving. Since this is only involved your vehicle and you, it's not like you left someone else injured to die on the side of the road, so why would leaving the scene be a big deal anyway? Unless this involved DUI or something similarly stupid, I doubt you have anything to worry about. It certainly wouldn't be a felony. No one is going to care if you have a couple of traffic tickets. Kind of strange that they didn't give you a ticket already, but who knows, maybe MN is different. If you're that concerned, talk to an attorney - they can certainly tell you if any of this is a big deal, but on the surface, it doesn't sound like it.

I wouldn't worry about it. Worst case scenario is a ticket.

Thank you so much for responding! I went into a ravene and left the scene becuase i did have a few drinks..of course i was freaked out. I blew a .07- hours later--(.08 is legal limit in MN) when they brought me in for questioning. I admitted to everything. The sheriff thinks i should only get a misdormeanor but llike i stated earlier i dont know what they look for when they do a background check esp for CRNA school. It was a foolish night out. Honestly had went out without a plan or way to get home not thinking id drink that much. Drank way more than i intended and lost control of the car because it was very foggy out. So to the world of RNs that is my story. Thanks for your input
I sure hope you learned a valuable lesson here....that could have been me an my kids you might have hit on your way into the ravene.
Do NOT drink and drive!

I'm sure the lesson has been learned.
It sounds like a minor thing. If on the extremely rare chance that it turned into something more, be prepared to defend your future with the assistance of a lawyer. Again though, it doesn't sound like it will amount to much.
