Immunization Verification

Nursing Students General Students

I am at a loss. The nursing program I will be applying to requires that students submit immunization verification. I received all my childhood immunizations (plus some, as my father was military and we lived overseas), but don't have a copy of it. My mothers says she got rid of my world health records after I left home. I don't balme her, since I will be forty next month and haven't lived at home in more than twenty years. The last doctor I can think of who may have a copy died a few years ago and his practice was purchased by another physician. But even if the new doctor has the old records in storage, I hadn't seen the original doctor in years. And I am fairly certain that my OB/GYN etc., never sent off for my old childhood records. Should I make plans to take everything over again to have a current record? I can't be the only student to have had this happen. Any suggestions?

For those who need the shots, try your county health department!

I started my hepB series and some other shots last month. I have to go back two more times, and it's $97 each time just to walk through my Dr's door.

So I'm glad I went to her for the titers and the first shots, but I'll finish the other two visits at county health.

Even if you had all the shots 20 years ago, you might not be immune now. I found I don't have immunity to measles or varicella even though I had chickenpox as a kid and was immunized for measles way back when, too.

I started my hep B series in September even though I don't even know if I got in the Spring program yet.

I know some schools immunize their new nursing students themselves for cheap.

My alma mater will give anyone enrolled there the vaccinations at a reasonable price.... Maybe yours will?

I never thought I had chickenpax, Mama always said not. My titer said I hadn't had it either. Well a ccouple of years ago I got Shingles, so titers can "lie."
