Immunization Nurse!

Published

Hello,

I recently accepted my first RN position with a company that does immunizations. From the interview it sounds like I will just be doing flu shots. The only vaccine I've ever given was the pneumonia vaccine during clinicals. I'm not too nervous about it but it's the first job I've gotten since graduating last year. So any tips or any helpful information would be appreciated :) thanks in advanced

I would brush up on administering the vaccine. Needle length, location, etc and look up side effects so you won't be caught unprepared when someone asks you but. I wouldn't stress.

I'd be prepared to do some good teaching about the vaccine and process, if needed, and be prepared to provide instructions for at home regarding possible side effects, reactions, discomfort, etc.

Good luck!

With some review and practice, you'll have the skill down in no time. Like anything, practice makes perfect! I agree with the advice the other posters have already given.

Also, just wondering...what did you include on your resume to get this job? I am interested in a similar position and am wondering how I can make myself more appealing.
