Thanks iamnomad. In that case, I might just have to apply for PR sooner then. True jems, even private health insurance companies are racking up a lot of money from non-residents. I'm sorry I thought you live in Sydney and no, I don't work for St. George.

I'm just wondering how costly is it without Medicare? Are you with any insurance companies? What have they covered with your recent hospital visit?

Australian unity. But i'll be switching soon. I went to ED that holyweek due to tonsilitis and high grade fever and i was shivering.the chek up only without any diagnostic tests cost me 460 bucks! No meds at all! And this insurnce doesnt allow direct billing so i needed to pay out of my pocket. Whew!

That must have been terrible, I could imagine. I'm with iman(NIB) since my application for my 457 visa and I'm paying roughly $50 a fortnight and they're keen on increasing the fees by $10 next month according to the email that I got from them. I'm looking into switching to another private insurance company but there are hordes out there and I have got no clue which one has the best value for money. Any thoughts??

Honestly, i have no idea.. I myself too is still searching thoroughly which ones coverage suits not only for me but for my family too.. That's why im so eager already to apply for PR but then again,i can't force the time and especially the orgs involve to do their jobs quicker.

Hi noveau! I have further questions to ask.. Can you pm me your email add? :)

Hello, good day to everyone. Hopeful to meet future classmates for IHNA here. I am trying to enter the feb 14 intake if not for the 28 of march. Lodged my visa last 16th of january. Done with my medicals last jan 25 at NHSI Davao. Now i'm patiently waiting for the outcome. Goodluck and Godspeed to all of us. Hopefuls.

Which IHNA campus are you having your BP?

Any thoughts on applying for the ANMAC skills assessment? It's been 3 months since I've had my 457 visa and yet again, I'm planning to apply for a permanent visa this soon.

Have you had any problems during the application? I'm going for the 189 visa PR and will ask ANMAC to only have my skills assessed, without the experience. Is this the best option?

This cost me $320 ($10 increase by July 2014) on top of the $50 I paid to AHPRA for them to directly send my verification documents to ANMAC.

I never had any problems when I applied. Although they asked me to provide copies of a certification that I finished a bridging program, which I didn't undergo anyway. They probably thought that all Filipino applicants should undergo a bridging program.

I didn't ask them to assess my experience coz it's short of the required 3 years overseas experience anyway.

I say, if you're qualified for 189 visa now, go for it.

Thanks for the response, iamnomad. I, myself, am 3 months short of the 3-year overseas experience which bugs me every time. Should I just ask them to have my skills assessed instead?

After doing the self-assessment based on the points test from DIAC for the 189 visa, I might not be able to reach the min. 60 points though. What do you reckon should I do?

In my case, I had two options. I scored 55 so the first option is to go through state sponsorship. I don't know where you live, but NSW is closed and will only open in July. My second option is the 189 visa, which I took. But I had to wait until I had the 1 year work experience here in Australia to add 5 points.

I live in Sydney so I can't apply for a state sponsorship just yet let alone 189 visa because I just started last February. Oh dear, this is frustrating.

how many points have you got? is IELTS retake an option? Anyway, if not, the state sponsorship will open in July.
