So, I have ADHD. Sometimes I forget my medications while at work or just out and about doing errands, getting things done, etc. Fellow ADHD friend offered a suggestion and shared with me that she keeps nicotine gum with her at all times so that when she forgets her meds and needs a boost it helps. I began giving it a shot and although its not REALLY the same it was semi helpful on those days when I did not have my meds. Not a daily thing - just kinda slowly became my back up plan. I don't feel comfortable carrying around a full bottle of stims so they live at home.. However if I forget my lil pill carrier with that days pill/ dose, I know that at least I have the nicotine gum.
Recently I received an offer at a new hospital to start in their ICU. I've tried a couple things over the last ~2/3ish years, and really miss the ICU and am super excited to get back into that environment.
The problem is that this facility is a smoke-free /tobacco free facility. NBD. Never been a smoker, vaper, etc... Then I realized that by me taking nicotine gum (including recently) is PROBABLY to be a problem... I purchased a self test tonight and am def positive for cotinine. My health/drug test is at the end of this week. So if they decide to test me for nicotine I may have just screwed myself over...
Is there anything I can do at this point, or say? Or am I pretty much going to have to accept the loss if they decide to test me for nicotine and it comes back positive? I am guessing the latter
You live and learn? But am really kicking myself for this level of idiocracy ?♀️
False alarm...
No nicotine test - just a standard urine collection for illegal substances ???

I'm glad its a false alarm, but you could always say you decided to quit just for them, and show them your gum.
