This has nothing to do with nursing, so I apologize. I'm working for this medical transcription company part time from home. I love the hours, because I can go to school, then come home and work. BUT, now there's a big problem. They have not paid me since Feb 4th. They are supposed to mail me checks bi-weekly. I'm getting paid under the table because they didn't want to put me on payroll, probably so they can pull stuff like this. I have been at war with them since last Monday. They keep telling me that the check is on its way. I told them yesterday that it had not gotten here yet and they told me that they will send it next day UPS. Well, I just saw the UPS truck sail right past my house. I'm so fed up that I don't know what to do. I'm so broke that I have creditors calling me multiple times a day, my husband and I are down to one car because I can't afford to get mine fixed, I'm going to be late for the VERY first time on my house payment, and I'm so close to being done with my nursing school pre-reqs and I can't afford to register for Spring/Summer now. I'm just so upset and stressed out about the whole situation. I just sent an inquiry to the Department of Labor, so I guess I have to wait to see what they say. Thanks for listening to me. Sorry this is so long.

Best of luck to you. You're not the only one who uses "allnurses' to vent. That's the beauty of the website. Hope all works out well.

Sorry to hear about your problems. I can't think of any legitimate reason for the company not to have put you on the payroll. Keep on the Labor Dept. with your inquiry and I would consider a complaint to the state attorney general's office or the office of consumer affairs; anybody in your state's govt. You can also go public with the media.
Hope you are able to replace this source of income quickly. Not having the money for housing and to enroll in school is very stressful. Maybe your school has an emergency financial aid fund you could go to. Best wishes to you and I hope you get your pay soon.

I'm a medical transcriptionist too! I also love how flexible it can be with regards to school. I work part-time for a national company called SoftScript, and have been for 4 years. They always pay me on time, and I can't complain about the pay. Maybe you can look into them at http://www.softscript.com. I hope everything works out!
Thank you, everyone! I really appreciate the support! Athena, I will definitely check out SoftScript. Maybe I can get the other girls to switch there, too because they are all tired of being treated like slaves.
Thank you!
