I too love the Navy, been in 10+ years now. Not sure what you mean by "learn that much." You develop just like a civilian nurse, but we get the opportunity to go back to school and the Navy will pay for it. that's an oversimplification, but you get the picture.

What do you think of the navy hospitals? are they clean? is the staff nice? Some one told me that most people in the navy are rude...

Someone told you that?
Generally when someone thinks and spreads toxic advice like that it is "they" who are as they project others are.
Good luck,

p.s. so the Navy people that responded to your answer, why not thank them rather than say how someone told you they are rude? Welcome aboard...

If you want first hand knowledge take a drive up to Great Lakes above Chicago and find out for yourself. Or you can come to Washington D.C. and I'll show you around myself. If you meet people in any of the armed services that are rude, they came in like that. The military does not do that to people, people do it to themselves. There are TONS of opportunity in the military and some people do not take full advantage of it because it is not handed to them on a platter and they have to work for it. Those will be the people that you may perceive as being rude.

As a US Navy vet, I can assure you (as others have) that there may be rude folks in the military. However, there are rude people outside the military too. In the three years, I was in the Navy and another 20 years as a military spouse, I have encountered far fewer rude people in the military than outside. Of course, I am a little biased because most of my adult life has been spent either in the military or closely associated with the military.

Hey, I never met a military person who didn't have perfect manners. If only that could get spread around, eh? People are so rude these days.
Thank you everybody for responding back to my question, its greatly appreciated. I'm trying to decide if i want to do navy or national guard right now... if there are any national guard nurses out there, what do you think of the guard? thanks
The guard sounds like a good deal - but how's your Arabic? Depending on how things go, you might have to have an unintentional vacation in Iraq.
