I'm new

Published

I graduated in December 2015. It was a long journey to get there. I waited to take boards until April. My family and some friends did not understand that I needed to disconnect from school.

I didn't realize that when I scheduled my boards it was on a Friday. It was a very long weekend to say the least.

This week I have applied for my first job. It is in pediatrics home care with one on one. I am pretty sure that I have the job. I am going back tomorrow to turn in more paperwork.

My question for you is will I ever get past that incompetent feeling. I know there will be extensive training but... ugh...

Thanks in advance.

Overtime you'll have seen/ experienced enough to feel confident in your abilities, until then stick with your gut and ask for a second opinion advice if you're unsure! You have the base knowledge required to keep your patients safe and alive, which was required for the NCLEX ;) If you know how to access the pertinent resources and have supportive co-workers, you'll be fine :)

I graduated June 2014...and only have been licensed since January. I work in long term care and am usually placed as charge nurse, and work directly or indirectly with my residents. I feel confident I can act to keep my residents safe and know what to do/ who to call once the situation gets beyond my ability.
