Hey all. I just started my 1st lpn job. I'm an RN grad, failed my boards. So I got a job in LTC. They have a treatment charge nurse and meds charge nurse. I'm on the massive struggle boat of charting, faxing, calling, noting notes that have been noted or need to be noted. I've been on meds for 4 days. And am able to do that. But I'm really worried about my rotation as treatment nurse. The facility is less than stellar and majority of CNA'S are incompetent. I don't remember ever being disrespectful to my nurses as a CNA. Help. Help. Help. Help

I have become a nurse to help people, save ppl and educate. I'm not worried about me at all. That's why I became a nurse. The one thing I find extremely hypocritical is when an obese nurse is the health coach. I feel there should be limits on that side if nursing. I hope that when a patient is dying they don't speak up and day "hey I don't want her to be my nurse, she's to fat." That patient could be in trouble ad many nurses are overweight. My 2 cents.

I truly believe that being a CNA beforehand is important. Why? You get to understand your clients /patients/residents. Our school's prereq is CNA cert. Even though we don't have to be one we just have to have it. One of my peers got her CNA and went straight into nursing. When it came time to do patient care she was clueless to the bone, me being a 20 yr CNA veteran was highly irritated. Does it help when you get into a nursing program? I'd say 50/50. You will be able to understand your patient and know what to do in a position in that scope...

I graduated in December 2015. It was a long journey to get there. I waited to take boards until April. My family and some friends did not understand that I needed to disconnect from school. I didn't realize that when I scheduled my boards it was on a Friday. It was a very long weekend to say the least. This week I have applied for my first job. It is in pediatrics home care with one on one. I am pretty sure that I have the job. I am going back tomorrow to turn in more paperwork. My question for you is will I ever get past that incompetent feeling. I know there will be extensive training but... ugh... Thanks in advance.

First of all I'd like to say, STOP IT. WHY? I totally get what you're saying. We made it through NURSING SCHOOL. WE PASSED BOARDS. We are new. I had my first interview yesterday and let me tell you I'm scared. Scared as hell. There won't be an instructor looking over my shoulder. No class peers to guide me, complain to or cry with. We are expected to be slow. This isn't going to happen over night. What I'm going to end with is. WE'VE got this, we can do it AND we will. Good luck to you.
