I'm an LVN and I hate/can't stand being a charge nurse

I don't want to sound ungrateful. I have been a LVN for about 4 years now. I work a few per diem home care jobs here and there but I have been in LTC for most of my career. When I went for my LVN it was because I was trying to figure out if nursing was for me. My biggest problem is that I can't stand working as a charge nurse. Personally I feel overwhelmed with the amount of patients, paperwork, orders, and duties for an 8 hour shift. It is really having me question my career choice. I don't have many options as a LVN. Hospitals and hospice companies are impossible to get in. I am currently waiting to get into a RN program but I am so discouraged at this point because I feel like being a charge nurse is all a LVN can do. I love my patients and I love bed side care but I feel really helpless.

I would make an effort to go full time in home care, even if you have to travel a little. Usually, you only have to worry about your own practice during your shift, or visit. No supervising. And one patient instead of many, for about the same amount of pay is a pretty good deal.
