Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Ok, so I got my degree audit from EC. It says I need the following: 2 Semester hours in Sociology, 4 A&P, 2 Micro, 2 Science and Supportive Nursing, 1 Free Elective or Additional Arts & Sciences

From what I am reading I need to take Foundations in Gerontology for Social Sciences? Is that the only option I have for that component?

I want to get started but I honestly don't know where to begin. Anyone have any pearls of wisdom on how to get started and with what materials you did well with?

Thanks guys.

There is usually never only one option. How you go about it, is to find a course in an online format or regular class at your local community college, or a DANTES or CLEP test or an EC course or test and discuss this with your EC advisor. Ask them how you go about getting your chosen course preapproved. Then you take it and have it submitted to EC. You could do a search for gerontology on this forum to see what others have to say about the test. I believe I have read that some people have found the test to be difficult. I have a preference for taking live classes at community colleges because I find that it is easier to get a good grade when there is classroom interaction. But that is me.

Never only one option :) Go to EC website, log on to MyEC. Then, on the left side scroll down a bit, there will be "Course Search" link. You go there, it will show what classes you need to take. Pick one and click "Search" button. It will give you a list of options. Plus, just as caliotter3 said, there is always an option to CLEP Sociology (you will have to call EC first and ask for approval. They will send you an e-mail almost immediately.) For CLEP or DANTES credits you won't get a grade, it is a pass-fail, but they are cheaper than EC exams :)

Good luck!

Thank you guys for the info. I will look into the options you mentioned:yeah:
