I'm up in the air!

Hey everyone!

I'm writing this as a pre-nursing applicant in California.

I am currently in my last semester of community college, and have applied to the highly competitive nursing programs here in California.

Does anyone have any insight as to what schools I should be aiming for? My top choices are schools that have 2 year BSN programs, as most of them are 3 years long. This includes SFSU, Sonoma State University, and Sacramento State University. Since these are all 2 year programs, I have these at the top of my list.

But, what I'm unsure of is, which school will get me the furthest? I've heard that NCLEX pass rates should be considered, but what other factors need to be considered as well? I know that San Jose State University has clinical sites at hospitals like Valley Medical Center... and SFSU has sites at SF General. On the other hand, Sacramento state has extremely high NCLEX pass rates with nothing below 95%...

Thank you.

Two other things I would personally consider are graduation and employment percentages for new graduates if they are available in addition to NCLEX pass rates and clinical sites. Perhaps you may be able to talk with a current student or graduate to gain some insight into what you may encounter. I have a few friends in the ADN/ASN program I am looking into and I truly appreciate them updating me on their experiences. If you are able to find someone you know and trust then even better! Hopefully some others can give some additional advice. Best wishes!
