Say a resident is an evening shower and you are day shift, do you get the person up prior to evening shift coming in or leave them down?

We don't have any specific way of doing things in that situation... we just do our rounds as usual. Some people stay up for activities, some lie down because their care plan says so, and some lie down and then climb out of bed 20 minutes later!
I don't see what difference it makes to 2nd shift, and I worked 2nd shift for a long time. You still have to transfer the person into a bath chair and whether the transfer is coming from the bed or the chair never mattered to me.
I know it's easier for 2nd shift when all the mechanical lift people are in bed when they get there, so we usually leave them in. Sometimes in the afternoon if I have time I'll do one of the next shift's showers and put the person in a housecoat or something, and then they don't have to do it later.

Ask the evening shift people what they want, since different places do things differently(or if you are evenings, tell the day shift what you want). Where I work evenings cant give someone a shower until after dinner, so they just prefer everybody be in bed and dry when they start their shift, or the somewhat independant people who want to stay in their chairs are dry and recently toileted while they wheel the halls or whatever.

In this situation at my facility if that resident has a shower on the next shift we dry the resitdent and leave them in bed & when the next shift comes they'll transfer the resident into a shower chair. We do it this way because we don't know exactly what time the next shift will give that resident a shower so we let the resident rest until the next shift arrives.
