I have a question, if a prospective nurse passes their boards but in their past were on methadone maintenance can a prospective employer find that out in a background check or only through self disclosure

Specializes in critical care, ER,ICU, CVSURG, CCU.

on obtaing renewal and or initial lis., thru most state BONs ask a question , something to the verbage of"have you ever........" related to dertain criminal acts, certain mental health issues ie: addiction, not ans. those questions accurate, can lead to "hot water" later should the BON learn of it ....best of luck to you.

I don't think your employer would find out unless you are put on restrictions by the BON due to the history of Methadone.
