IF.....I get in.....

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

okay so i'm a bit stressed out, those of you who have read other threads like "waiting on the letter" know i am stressed out, but i need some interpretative assistance. anyhow, my work (a children's hospital) makes our schedules a month in advance, with that being said, an advisor for the health services at my local cc where i applied for rn program told me we would get our schedules (for class/clinical) at orientation. i emailed her and below i've copied and pasted the exact responses, and what i wrote her. tell me how you would take her response.

hello-

they are making the schedules for july and august here in my department. do you know the date(s) for orientation so i can ensure i have that off should i be accepted.

thanks

heather

orientations will be held june 21, july 13, and august 10. thanks.

okay, so just out of curiosity, if accepted students would not be notified until june 30th, how can there be an orientation prior to that? do i have reason to be concerned since i haven't received anything yet? it's too late for me to request july 13th off (they do schedules a month in advance here at work), so if i am accepted, can i "opt" to take my orientation on august 10th?

heather, we have ten health programs, so our june 21 orientation is not only for nursing. we have other students attending that were already on our waiting list, etc. they are still processing selective admissions applications and will make their decision as soon as the process is complete. yes, if you are accepted, you may attend the august 10 orientation. thank you.

okay so that is it.......i guess when she typed if it makes me nervous and do they realize class starts on august 21st. this just seems like a completely not coordinated effort, or i am not in. not sure which.

Yes, 60 points are designated towards pre-reqs and how many you've completed (I have done all so I automatically have 60 points, I will say I don't know HOW they are allocated if you haven't finished them). The other 30 points are based upon your pre-requisite GPA. I have a 3.12 for those classes, so I have like 31 points (so I was told by the director of admissions), so I have a total of roughly 91 points or so. I hope this helps.

Thanks! She has all her pre-reqs done and if it's just based on pre-reqs, then over a 3.7 gpa. I hope you and she both get in!:lol2:

Yeah me too, but like I've said in other threads, only takes like 50 other students like your friend to beat me out of the running.

I know it's only been a few days, but have you heard any news at all?

You crack me up, maybe your friend should sign on with allnurses....get this I have this complete witch I work with named Kathi......anyhow, she plays the marter in every situation possible but is one of those passive agressive types that will make you feel like poo just to feel better about themselves. Anyhow, I told her I was waiting on nursing school to give her my availability for the August schedule. Anyhow, she proceeds to tell me how she interviewed someone last week who already got their acceptance letter and it looks like I wasn't told the truth and how maybe I will be accepted if someone in their "first choice" doesn't get in. What a *****. Sorry for the language, I was so upset I went out to the parking garage and started crying (you know how stressed I've been) and caved and called the admissions guy and told him my story. He said he is sending ALL letters (acceptance/denials) on this Friday. He said the ONLY letters he's sent were letters advising those who did not meet the minimum requirements. He said to stop stressing and just know I will have an answer NO LATER than next Wednesday. Tell your friend. I have confidence she got in, myself on the other hand. Not so much. We'll see.
