If not a hospital, then where?

I went to nursing school out of state but live in the East Valley. If I can't get a job at a hospital as a new grad nurse, is there a good second option? That might pay somewhat close to what I could make at a hospital?

I would really appreciate any ideas or leads that anyone has.

LTCs, Sub Acutes, SNFs

Typically they actually pay alot more than acute care. You tend to sacrifice benefits but the yearly income is much more.

I know the immunization clinics are hiring and the prison system. I don't know what the pay rate is in comparison. Also if you know anyone who needs office help, although I never thought this paid close to hospital pay. I have a new grad that just got work in home health which really shocks me!!! I never thought a home health agency would hire a nurse without experience. Apparently the do, and you will be managing vents and stuff. Blows my mind....

If I work in a non-hospital setting and eventually want to hire on at a hospital, is this type of experience typically valued by hospitals? I suppose it is better than just sitting around waiting for a new grad spot to open up?

I have a new grad that just got work in home health which really shocks me!!! I never thought a home health agency would hire a nurse without experience. Apparently the do, and you will be managing vents and stuff. Blows my mind....

My RN-BSN program was FILLED with new grads with no experience who ended up in home health by the end of the program. Nursing school in no way prepares a nurse do central line changes, let alone manage a vent.
