Hello, I will be having my final examinations and I was researching about the IDEAL roles of each member in surgical team. Ive researched a lot of roles and I would like to confirm or criticize this since these are from different sources:
Chief surgeon:
- captain of the ship
- primary decision maker
- perform the required surgery
- writes post op notes
- secures wound dressing
- initiates surgical count
- surgical count discrepancy
Assistant to surgeon:
-assist in retraction
- suturing
- surgical field clearance
- check blood loss
Scrub nurse:
- prepares surgical field and instrument
- passes instruments to surgeon
- paritipates in specimen collection
- surgical count
Do you think ive got the correct assignment of each? Or are there any interchanges between members?

You completely missed the circulating nurse...
And the anesthesia provider...
If you are in the US, you will likely find the AORN website helpful. If you are not in the US, find the website of the national organization for OR nurses.
