If we the Nurses could plan a perfect hospital what would you include?
i am dying to hear what people want especially as i feel that although Nurses are involved in planning hospital services somewhere its at that level where those kind of directors havent nursed for ages and have no idea what it's like
please post your ideas please (Sorry for bad grammar etc.)
To be recognised by my hard work with a simple thanks, even a one line note in my mail box
To have my peers, buddies, know when I'm having a bad day and ignore a nasty remark.... and forget about it.
To have a patient or family call or write and even suggest I may have made a difference
To call a manager at 2am, say "I'm drowning", and they simply reply.... "I'll be right there".
A doctor says thanks for taking good care of so and so.
That person who never comes in extra or switches thier shift does so, even once.... and you don't have to share your sob story.
The nurse manager makes rounds and notices that it's 4pm and no one has had lunch and however it's done... it gets taken care of.
Every new person, be it nurse, RT, NA, gets a warm welcome and is part of the family..........from day one (no I'm not a new nurse)
Sorry, Ambien wore off, awake now.....
I'll simply take a 30 minute lunch break sitting down, reading a non-nursing book, where at the end... I have time to pee too!
