1. Is Neuro ICU more total care than SICU?

2. Is Neuro ICU for all age groups even though there is a PICU for pediatric patients for need of ICU?

THX 4 you reply! I just have the choice now on if I want the NNICU or the MSICU. NNICU has 10-12 pt.s per tech and MSICU has 8-10 pt. per tech. I just want to make sure of teamwork skills between techs when it comes to giving a bed bath to a stroke patient!

the thread title confuses me, but when i worked in icu there is basically only 1 tech that works to help the nurses

My shift will be an 8p-6a either on the MSICU or the NNICU (neuro icu) I was told I would be given anywhere between 10-12 pt. on NNICU and 8-10 pt. in MSICU. If RN's do most of the work, we are just to assist them when they are with the patient! If there be a stroke patient , there will be 2 techs or they areoutta here if they are not willing to do team work! I have a friend that worked in ICU in the past and she explained to me that most RN'S do the work but techs assist the RNwhen they are with the patient unless its simple lil' things like vitals, tray duty, bed making ect. but we R to learn veinipuncute skills as manditory but the RN' will incert and pull out floeys but we have to collect how may units:nurse::yeah: and I have no problem taking classes for that since it is a teaching hospital. ;)
