I’m currently working in organ procurement, but have extensive experience in critical care and advanced airway management. I am interested in volunteering if hospital resources are overwhelmed as it seems as though there may be a significant need for ICU RNs if the curve is not flattened effectively, as we’ve seen in Italy. Should I contact FEMA? Nursing agencies? Local hospital float pools? As I see Ford and GM halting production to potentially start manufacturing ventilators, I feel a sense of responsibility to do my part to support the response to this pandemic using the potentially valuable clinical experience I have.
