How do I get financial aid with a bachelors degree? I have a 4-year degree, but am currently unemployed. I applied and got accepted into a LPN (nursing) program at a local community college. I went to the financial aid office and asked about any loans I may be qualified for. I was told since I have a 4-year degree I will not even qualify for a loan. I am wondering if anyone knows of any programs in North Carolina I can look into? I thought that I would at least be able to get a loan. Thanks!

I also have a BA and will start my LPN program in August. Like the PP stated, I don't qualify for grants because of my degree. However, lottery tuition assistance is available in my state at 2 year schools, so I use that and pay the rest out of pocket. I knew I was going back to school eventually, so I just saved the $$$. Loans weren't an option for me since I have enough of them from undergrad.

Thanks! I just passed my LPN entrance test YAY I'll be starting SEPT 2013 , although longer route I am on my way to start! I can not waittttttttt. Between the 15 month LPN program and ADN I am giving myself 31/2years to become an RN....I'll also be making my vision board to help me keep track of my goal!

Yay, vision boards!!!

Just an update: My school does not participate in student loans of any kind. And because I have a 4-year degree I am not eligible for any scholarships. So I was not able to get any kind of funding that way. But, I was blessed enough to find a job as a CNA that offers a flexible schedule, where I work on the weekends and sometimes double shifts. So I am making monthly payments towards my tuition.
