Just an update: My school does not participate in student loans of any kind. And because I have a 4-year degree I am not eligible for any scholarships. So I was not able to get any kind of funding that way. But, I was blessed enough to find a job as a CNA that offers a flexible schedule, where I work on the weekends and sometimes double shifts. So I am making monthly payments towards my tuition.

Thanks! And good luck Niks09! I got an email back from FAFSA yesterday stating that my information was processed and send to the school. So hopefully, I will be getting good news. I will keep you all updated. Thanks again to all for all your helpful comments and suggestions.

@Niks09 & Esme12 I too have decided against the accelerated programs because of not wanting to stretch myself too thin. I am wanting to get my foot in the door. I am currently unemployed, and community college is my best option right now. Then after I complete the LPN hopefully go on to the RN program. I just filed out an application online at FAFSA, I am hoping to get some good news. And I will link back up with my school to see what they can do. But I will consider also taking out a private loan through Sallie Mae. I already have my first student loan through them. Wish me luck! And also, any other comments on this matter is appreciated. @ Nomadicpixie - I owe like $10,000 on my current loan (from my 4-year degree) The original loan was $13,000. Should I fill out the forms at www.fafsa.ed.gov first and then ask my school for an exception to policy form from my school? Is that what you did?

How do I get financial aid with a bachelors degree? I have a 4-year degree, but am currently unemployed. I applied and got accepted into a LPN (nursing) program at a local community college. I went to the financial aid office and asked about any loans I may be qualified for. I was told since I have a 4-year degree I will not even qualify for a loan. I am wondering if anyone knows of any programs in North Carolina I can look into? I thought that I would at least be able to get a loan.Thanks!

Thanks Srwyatt! Congrats to you as well!!! I am so excited also. I am nervous too...but can't wait to start this exciting new journey! I am a CNA, so I will probably do home health care on the weekends and during the week to pick up extra hours as well as save as much money as I can now to have while I am in nursing school.
