I will never get into a nursing school

Published

The TEAS V is really hard for me, scored 80% on math, 67% on reading, 58% on science, 70% on English usage part. I applied to several nursing schools: TWU, UT Houston, Sam Houston State (did not get accepted in these schools), and Texas State (late deadline in June and still waiting for their response). I did better on Hesi, scored 92% on math, 60% on biology, vocabulary and Anatomy, 76% on Chemistry, 84% on Grammer. I do really outstanding in every class since Pre-K. I do not think I will never get into a nursing school. My GPA is 3.7 and english is my primary language, I really hate this entrance test. I do not know what to do anymore, I want to give up on nursing and it has always been my dream to be a nurse. :(

There are schools that don't require an entrance exam. For example, I don't think any of the public schools in Kentucky do.

good luck!

I'm about to take the Teas test in 2 weeks!! Any pointers or studying tips

@ blez - I know my post is super late but... Don't give up! If you don't get into your first choices, open yourself to other options. There's more than 1 way to accomplish your goals. Like someone said before, try getting into an lpn/lvn program first then bridge over. That's what I am going to do. You'll gain experience in your field which will translate to college credit when you go for your RN. Additionally, it may end up being a little cheaper in the long run as you may end up working for an employer that will offer tuition assistance for you to go back to school. The classes you take while trying to get your LPN may also help boost your TEAS scores. There is a bright side here. You just have to re-assess and keep pushing. Don't just lay down and take no for an answer!

@ ray11kay - I would say go find the breakdown of the test then study in your weakest areas. I had 10 days to study before I had to take the test. :wideyed: YIKES! I totally understand where you are coming from! I didn't even order the official study guide because I was afraid I would get it in time. I focused mainly on the math and science (obviously not enough on the science) and my adjusted individual total score is 81.3%. The breakdown was Reading: 85.7%, Math: 86.7%, Science: 66.7%, and English and Language Usage: 93.3%. I have been out of school for almost 6 years. You're going to just have to get in there and really dedicate your time. If you would like to know what resources I ended up using just pm me. I will be happy to help you!

hi please email me at silverchairstubborn at yahoo dot com i have question

Sam Houston is a hard school to get into. I go here now, but i do not plan on going to the nursing program up here. Your Teas score can not be lower than 80% and your GPA can not be lower than 3.5. Keep your head up!!! and apply to different schools. Maybe Prairie View, SFA, Lamar, etc....
