I am fairly new to travel nursing. The only travel assignment I have done so far was the one-day strike in Minnesota. I have talked with several companies, which all were 'great it will be no problem finding you something!!' HA!!!
I am licensed in a few states, including California..which I would love to go!! I do not care about the 'sight-seeing' and really just want to work!! I have been turned down a few times because 'I didn't have enough travel experience.'
I don't want to talk to any other companies. I have talked with Talemed, Nurses Choice, American Mobile, Clinical One and Medical Solutions and feel like my reference check is beginning to get on my co-workers nerves!!
I know what I want in a travel contract, and I currently have 4+ years in a Women's and Children's float RN which means I do everything from Neonatal, PICU, Peds, PedsER, PP and well-baby nursery.
What do I do??? Are other's out there having this problem??? I just want to cry.

Pick one company and call them daily. See if you are being "declined" for a specific reason or if they are sending you to places that have a lot of interest and few open positions. Make sure that you are not being submitted to the same hospital by multiple companies. If that One company doesn't get you something in a week. Drop them and start with the next. Don't try to juggle multiple companies when you first start out. It can get overwhelming. Good luck.

Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego had posted openings.
Great location for a travel contract.
(Oh, and by the way...NurseChioce, NursesRx, American Mobile, Preferred HealthCare, Med Travelers, Medical Express, Pltinum Select RN Demand, Staff Care and some others are the same lowsy AMN company. Stay away!!! Affiliate with other companies to get better offers.)

I would say try Cross Country. They are really good but low pay. Once you get and complete, you can venture out to other companies
